Pastor Maureen Beryl Shana is the Visionary of Woman Unlimited, which is a network that equips women with skills to overcome challenges in their lives. The Network has had interface with more than 15 000 women. Woman Unlimited has been instrumental in mentoring women in the church, in business, in politics, government bureaucrats and other women in various fields of endeavour.

She is married to Dr. Goodwill Shana and they have 4 children, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Together, they founded Word of Life International Ministries in 1990 which has since grown to a membership base of over 12,000 in 35 branches and is established in 3 continents.

She is the current Chairperson of the Women’s Advisory Committee of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ). EFZ is a fellowship of over 4,5 million members and 400 Evangelical and Pentecostal denominations, para church movements, ministries and bible schools of evangelical persuasion. In this role, she represents the aspirations of women in Evangelical Churches.

She holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management from Africa Leadership and Management Academy (ALMA). She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics and Administration with the University of Zimbabwe.

In 2012, Maureen was selected by Micah Challenge to be one of only five global champions of “Woman to Woman” a registered company in the UK. Micah Challenge is a global initiative between the Micah Network (300 relief and development organisations) and the World Evangelical Alliance. She was selected because of her innovative initiatives of empowering women to overcome their challenges in life.

In 2010 she opened “The Unlimited Connect Centre” in the Central Business District of Bulawayo, a multi-functional Centre which offered conference facilities for hosting seminars, business meetings and private functions; a Coffee Shop with light delicacies; and a beauty spa, manicure, pedicure, and massage facility. In recognition of this unique business concept she was awarded 2nd Runner-Up for the Matabeleland Region Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce. In the same year she was recognised as one of the 10 most influential women in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe by the Matabeleland Aids Council.

In 2004, Maureen won the Empretec Business Woman of the Year for her prowess in the construction industry.

Maureen has worked for the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) as a Business Consultant and Regional Manager for Matabeleland.

Maureen has authored two books namely Beyond Limits and It’s Time for Your Miracle. These books were written from her experiences and education that she has received. Her integrity and passion to see women empowered is clearly depicted in her books.

Maureen is fuelled by a desire to see women discover purpose and unlock potential.

Through Woman Unlimited, Maureen has a program that educates marginalized and orphaned girls. It also provides them with toiletries and school uniforms.

Maureen has been involved in advocacy for women’s empowerment by facilitating platforms for women to be trained in areas of business, leadership, information dissemination and skills development. In 2012 on the 31st of July she commemorated the Pan African Women’s Day by hosting a dialogue between civic society, the church and the government where she facilitated conversations around gender issues on the new constitution for Zimbabwe.

Equipped with experience and knowledge with the Conferences she has hosted, Maureen has also facilitated Business Expos in Bulawayo and Harare to promote economic development through increased exposure, educating and networking small and home based businesses.
